Counterfeit products are prolific in the ecommerce space, and the auto parts industry is definitely vulnerable. Counterfeit parts are a huge problem, as they create financial and reputation problems for manufacturers and suppliers, can create trust issues with customers, and pose numerous safety risks. Unfortunately, as we’ve stated before, even the most trusted online stores can unknowingly pass along counterfeit products. They’re everywhere.

However, there are ways to spot counterfeit parts and keep them out of your inventory:

Spot Counterfeit

Buying and selling counterfeit parts and infringing on intellectual property rights are crimes and do have victims. If you suspect you’ve received counterfeit parts, file a report with the Intellectual Property Rights center or the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
